REFERENCES: Magazine published in Coimbra, from 1927, directed by José Régio, Branquinho da Fonseca and João Gaspar Simões. It was published in two series: the first, between 1927 and 1939, included fifty three editions; the second, only two editions were published (1939 and 1940).
Among other merits, it was “Presença”, that was responsible for rehabilitating the artistic proposals of the “Orpheu Generation” (no. 48 is dedicated to Fernando Pessoa), honouring the literary modernity of the men of 1915 and the demand for impartiality and rigour in literary criticism. Simultaneously, “Presença” played a determining cultural role in promoting foreign authors such as Proust, Gide, Pirandello, Dostoievsky, Ibsen, and the Brazilians, Jorge Amado, José Lins do Rego, Cecília de Meireles, Ribeiro Couto and Jorge de Lima.

PROVENANCE: From the estates of Fernando Pessoa´s heirs. DIMENSIONS: 37 x 29 cm.
